Flying to the top: The True Story on WTF "Flying Genies" actually means

Catcher - Trivia who is the highest ranking catcher in fantasy this year? Not Mauer, not Victor, not McCann. I struck gold in the last round of the draft with R. Martin.
1B - Votto, hands down the best/favortite player on my team, reached base every game this year, OBP machine, he sees no pitchers, and is still batting like .360.
2B- Pedroia is stinky and potentially going to lose his job to Neil Walker very soon.
3B - Young, who now qualifies at 2B also for those looking for a 2B i have 4. Solid solid year, the forgotten piece in the Timmy trade Young has been the unsong hero for the Flying Genies the past three years.
SS - Mistake 1, drafting Andrus over Castro.
OF- Mistake 2 -Rios (though he has turned it around recently, but doesnt matter as his is riding the pine) Ethier is solid riding a 27 game hit streak. Hart is back from DL, and Gardner who is used my 2 waiver position on to get, I probably could have waited for him to be a free agent, but i liked getting him for OF depth.
Util - Gonzalez - huge disappointment i think, 2 homeruns so far when people were talkiing about him hitting 50, i am hoping he can hit 30. I am lacking power right now big time.
SP- Weaver - best pitcher in the league right now, Verlander - solid but not great, Wilson - most underrated pitcher in fantasy (thew a comlpete game 12 K game last night. The rest are iffy Kennedy is hit or miss, same with Hair Herrhens, and who know about Hellickson. I picked up Bud Norris who has been a strike out machine, and has a very fitting name for a Texas ballhurler.
RP - love my closer situation, Neftali is a stud his recent DL stint was overprotecting him, Cordero and Hanrahan are both having great years, and Aardsma should be coming back in the next few weeks, hopefully saves will not be an issue for me.
Top 6 finish yes, team to win? not sure yet.

No Bull: The story of Josh Smith and his resurrection of Bull Frogg
First order of business: trade Pujols. I would've like to trade him after the draft but I realized that he was more desirable before the draft for guys with "too many" keepers. A little summary of the shopping:
Offered him to Sam for Miggy and other guys...he laughed at me.
Offered to Timmy for Hamilton, Haren and someone else...he accepted...I renegged
Offered him to Crupi for Votto, Verlander, Weaver. he said maybe one of those pitchers and and pussed out and talks ceased.
Finally agreed to a deal with Mckenna. We all know it. His draft picks were turned into volquez and Vlad - not so good. Ended up getting Haren for Dunn and a closer. I wanted a pitcher in return for Pujols so that worked out. Timmy, keep your chin up!
Overall I am very happy with my return for Pujols.
Second order of business: Draft a ton of pitchers and spend all of April making cuts and having auditions. Colby Lewis - cut. Volquez - benched (can't cut a guy throwing 95-97 and change-up at 84-85, with great breaking stuff. I wish I could bench him for the first inning of each outing). Shields - you dirty dog. Keep it up. Romero - very nice. Price - underacheiving. Lilly - cut. I don't care if you were a keeper!
Third order of business: Dump Liriano. I wanted to trade him after the draft. I thought he was horrible the last two months last year and frankly I was sick of him. 6BB's and 2K's in a no-hitter. That is the type of thing that I was tired of. He will never be the guy before Tommy John...in my opinion.
Why BJ Upton? That is the question: I had three things in mind when getting him.
1. He was a #2 overall pick behind Bryan Bullington in 2002. Bryan Bullington?
2. He is only 26.
3. he hit .300 in the majors before.
I also heard, "He made a lot of changes this off-season to his approach at the plate." That means nothing. Hit .220 - he better make some changes. Doesn't mean he is good just because he made changes.
Those three points plus a good source of SB's and power. This trade will be interesting to see how it pans out. A walk-off last night! I took the bigger risk and it is helping me so far (just avoiding the balooned ERA), but for how long?
I'm worried about my closer situation. Prado for an interim closer was the best I could do, but with the Magnificent Zobrist who needs Prado? I am happy with League so far.
This is definitely a rebuilding year for me and my trades have been nothing but savvy. When I say "rebuilding" I do not plan or will not concede to last place. I WILL FINISH TOP 6TH. I'm guessing 5th.

Deep Thoughts by Peter Brown
Yo! Yo! Yo! I've been asked to do a blog post but to keep my politics out of it...not really, I don't have any politics! And I wasn't asked to do a blog post either so there! Well, maybe someone did! So Anyways...I remember the SMOOTS from walking around the Charles when i was into my yoga/health thing! That's the bridge I would cross to bring me around to Charlestown again. My loop was 5 miles which I did every morning...just to look at all the girls! Sometimes I did it at night too!
Anyways, I remember the smoots and and I knew it was some kind of stupid college thing but didn't know any of the facts behind it so that's where Rob came in and shared it with us! I am now on twitter, my handle is man25kind but I haven't posted any twitters yet! I joined so I could follow Juliana Hatfield's twitter after I read her memoir(which was pretty terrible!) and then it said to post a message but I got stage fright and wirter's block at the same time! It was my first message so I wanted to make it really good and I knew anything I would write would come out really lame. So I haven't posted a twitter yet! Once I do, you guys will be the first to know!
My life has become impossibly boring! I don't go to the 99 anymore(except on Saturday when I went to watch the game of hockey and I was bored) and I haven't drank since April 17th. I don't know what I'm doing with the whole drinking thing...it's like the the longer I go I don't want to break the streak! Its a weird feeling! Anyways, I haven't been going to the 99 which I tried to go to every night for the past 4 years mostly for out of money reasons(I'm saving up to pay Buxton his $200)...4 years of the 99 every night puts a stress on the pocketbook!
Anyways, all I do now is read and play soccer(read Josh Hamiltons book(Josh's pick and now reading Tiger Mother and Crupi's pick Sex Lives of Cannibals which isn't that bad). And I really suck at playing soccer. My legs are so tired and I don't have any speed and no endurance(wind they call it) and my body hurts to the point when I have to lurch around everywhere. You guys will see on Friday how bad of shape my body is in. But I'm gonna start Yoga again! Sound cool?
And if you guys have any suggestions on anything, please let me know!

From the mind of Peter Brown...
Listening to MGMT, I realized how awesome I was. I was in the top 4 in Brown League and my stock was still rising. So what if I am 122 innings over right now. I am sitting Fausto Carmona today to cut down on my innings. I heard that Trot Nixon got a butt knot from driving up from Florida to Boston after Spring Training. It kept him out of the game for a month. I don't think mine is as bad as that although there were certain moments last night that I didn't think I could go to work today. Falling and writhing on the floor at about 1 AM didn't boost my confidence. Waking up at 6 AM(pain is a good way to get up in the morning), I popped some pills and took a little nap and here I am, as good as new! Butt Knot is still there but tolerable!!! I just looked up butt knot on the internet and I don't think I'm using the right word. What I have feels like a muscle pull in my left cheek. Just wanted to clear that up. The definitions were kind of gross!
Anyways, my team is having a career year! Every player(besides Carlos Santana) on my squad who needed to step up has!!! I even have Placido Polanco who is the hottest player in the game and can't even crack my lineup. I'm reading 2 books right now. Tales from the Goon Squad and a memoir by Juliana Hatfield. They are both on my Kindle which is possibly wicked awesome! I joined twitter but I haven't posted anything yet. I also haven't been to the 99 since Friday, the 22nd. I'm going for a record.
Tonight is "No TV" Night at my apartment...not sure what I'm going to do. I am going to a Wilco show with Sam and Tim and families(I think Families) but I don't really like Wilco. Jeff Tweedy, in my opinion, is kind of a dink. But I'm still going to the concert. Anyone else who wants to come, can!!! You're invited!!! Also going to go camping at the end of May. I haven't been invited yet but I think I will still go!!! Me and Josh pulled a trade off in Umass league. I traded two hurt guys and got the hottest player in the league: David Wright!!! Man, am I mint!!!

The Smith's woke up in the basement this morning...
I was there for awhile, stinks down there. I feel like this is deja vu and Sammy was down there for a brief period last year and then somehow scams Yahoo into giving him 8pts on the last day to move up to 4th or something, total Smith Ponzi Scheme. Josh on the other hand has his work cut out for him, Dunn's appendix was like rubbing salt on a wound that dates back to last year. Which Smith makes a move? Which stays in the Top 6? Will they have the same exact number of points each day all year? Man I hope so!

The Till-Man, April 8th, 2011
The Sons of the South End actually gained 6.5 pts last night...but if you take some poop away from a pile of poop, it's still poop. The Till-Man was a pickup start for the Sons as no starter has gone through 5 innings since last Saturday. Needless to say I was down innings, the game was on MLB network, Boo Yaaaaaa. Interesting fact about Tillman, he had the lowest Opponents Hitting Avg since Sept 1st, he also pitched a 6inning no-hitter his first time out against the Rays. What could go wrong? Right?
With a team ERA of 7.something, all I needed was an average start. With my luck still going strong he gave a hit up to the FIRST batter! Remember, he didn't give up anything in 6 innings! Austin Jackson of all people who usually looks like he is trying to hit a pinata! Needless to say it was the opposite of a no-hitter. But my streak of pitchers not getting into the 5th inning is still in tact!
The Till-Man 4.2inn/4K's/7.71era/1.71whip 7's were wild boys!
Honorable mention: Jayson Werth for trying to fake his way out of a HR for us by sliding head first into 3rd on a HR trot

Big Vern, April 7th, 2011
Big Vern got a spot start for the home team yesterday and really made it his job to shat all over his OF spot. I decided to sit Werth against Volstad as he was 1-20 lifetime against him. Big Vern came in a lifetime .290-something vs righties and Helickson was on the mound for the Rays. I figure why not...boy did I get a fart on my face. I took a late lunch to watch Haren throw (have him in 2 leagues) and he was on from the start, so was Hellickson in the early innings but fizzled out in the 4th. Big Vern struck out 3 consecutive times, looking completely baffled about how to hit a baseball. Remember last year when he hit 50 HR's in the first 10 games? Yeah, that doesn't happen to me (FU McKenna). Big Vern's line
0/5 1 run, 3K's, 2 LOB
Honorable mention:
Ubaldo for going on the DL with a cut finger...come on
Dah!!
Yep, a blog is deserved for my team thus far. I set this up to highlight a player that went out of their way to stink the night before. This will be updated daily until my team (if they ever do) cross the 6th place threshold. Literally, since January NOTHING has gone right for me so I am starting to buy into a curse and I am going to run with it! Enjoy!
